Started off Monday and a new week with a trip to the Y for a workout. Worked chest and triceps and walked a little.
Work was fairly slow, as it tends to be in the summer. I shared a Pride Month post for the college, which received a fair share of positive engagement, but some negative homophobic stuff as well. For my lifetime until the last 5-10 years, it felt like we were making real progress in terms of inclusion and equity for all. The destruction of our elected leaders is saddening.
Breakfast was oatmeal with egg whites, protein powder, and cinnamon. Lunch was a wrap using leftover rotisserie chicken from Wegman’s, which we visited after Charlie’s soccer game on Saturday in Bemus Point.
After work, caught up with the kids after school. Charlie visited a dairy farm in Freedom for a field trip and got to milk a fake cow. I asked if fake milk came out. He said it was water.
Callie had watermelon day at school. She ate three pieces. Tomorrow is lemonade day.
Cy was home with Mom, though he had his 3-year-old doctor’s appointment in the afternoon. He weighs 39 pounds and is 39 inches long, which is above average. He’s a big boy with lots of energy!
Before dinner, I watched Charlie play a little Piggy on Roblox. He likes having me as a spectator. Dinner was beef tips, rice, raw carrots, and a sweet potato.
Before tonight, I think I tried sweet potato once on Thanksgiving and never ate it again. It was okay. Nothing I would seek out. The things I eat today I would have turned my nose up at 10 and especially 20 years ago. But getting older requires changes to stay healthy and feeling well.
Went for a short walk alone after dinner and helped Charlie and Cy fly the little drone when I got home. We also played a game of kickball in the backyard. Charlie won 7-6 on a home run.
Showered, helped Charlie a little with a word scramble, and read a part a little bit out of a Johnny Unitas biography book before falling asleep around 10.
